Opposition political party, Justice Forum (JEEMA) has advised government to come up with specific laws for Muslims in the country since the existing ones seem to be against them.

Addressing the media at JEEMA offices in Mengo –Rubaga division, the former Makindye Member of Parliament Hussein Kyanjo said that though Uganda has clearly spelt out laws, government seems to treat Muslims suspected of crime under a different set of unwritten laws.

Kyanjo’s remarks stem from a joint operation involving the officers from Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and Joint Terrorism Task Force (JATTF).

The operation led to the arrest of 36 Muslim suspects, some of them said to be connected to the kidnap and subsequent murder of Susan Magagra.

According to Police reports, two of the people picked up from the mosque are connected to Magara’s death.

Kyanjo notes that the events of the past few days in particular the raid on a Mosque community in Usafi was unfortunate but not surprising to most of them.
