About 14 youth activists of the ‘Jobless Brotherhood’ have been arrested from the streets of Kampala for protesting against the planned amendment of the Constitution to lift the presidential age limit.

Police led by Kampala Metropolitan South Police Commander Siraje Bakaleke rounded up the youths who were found distributing fliers to members of the public calling upon them to join the fight and defend the Constitution against what they called ‘selfish people.’

All the 14, including Makindye East MP Alan Ssewannyana, Makolo Kavuma, Eria Musoke, and Isaac Mutyaba among others are currently detained at CPS in Kampala.

However; security has been tightened in the entire city to counter any repeat of such scenes.

This follows a mini ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) caucus called by the State Minister for Investment Evelyn Anite and Igara County West MP Raphael Magyezi last Tuesday and passed a resolution to move a motion in parliament this Thursday to introduce a private members bill to amend Article 102(b), to open the age limit for the presidential, Vice president and the district chairpersons to start at 18 years of age to infinite.

Norman Tumuhimbise the group’s national coordinator says the campaign has just started.
