A group of people claiming to be supporters of the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, camped at the High Court in Kampala where she was expected to defend herself over allegations of illegally suspending six members of Parliament during the voting on the contentious age limit law.

The group of members wearing yellow T-Shirts carried placards reading “Leave Kadaga, leave NRM the quorum was there (317).” were all over the court without any interference from the officers manning security at the court.

Kadaga and the Attorney General (AG) were to appear over fresh summons on the December 19th  action where she suspended Hon. MPs; Gerald Karuhanga , Jonathan Odur ,Mubarak Munyangwa Anthony Akol, Allan Ssewanyana and Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda when she had adjourned the setting.

However Justice Margret Oumo Oguli also dismissed the case in a ruling read by the Deputy Registrar Joy Kabagye, saying she lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter and referred it to the constitutional court and each side to bear it’s costs.

Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago the lawyer for the applicants said although the y respected the ruling they were not satisfied with the way the matter has been handled.

The leader of opposition Hon Winnie Kiiza, who was in court vowed to do whatever it takes “to liberate the constitution.”
