Kadaga challenges the president for praising undisciplined marine soldiers

The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has contested President Yoweri Museneni for praising undisciplined Uganda People Defense Forces (UPDF) marine army officials.

This follows Museveni’s State of the Nation Address in which he praised UPDF Marines for restoring the lakes that were depleted by bad fishing on expense on torturing the fishing community.

On Monday morning however, while receiving a petition from the fishing community of Bukooli Island headed by Namayingo district speaker Peter Okumu, Kadaga was surprised to be informed that UPDF is still torturing, confiscating engine boats of fishermen under the disguise of cubing illegal fishing.

Kadaga now demands that the President act against the officers on lakes or either she name and shame those errant officers who perpetrate such acts.

Meanwhile, Kadaga has also issued summons to ministry of defense to account and explain why they have continued terrorizing the fishing community.
