The four are: ACP Julius Twinomujuni from the Directorate of Human Rights and Legal Services, SSP Edgar Nyambogo, the Regional Police Commander of Kidepo, SSP Felix Mugizi, the DPC of Kumi and SSP Apollo Kateeba the RPC Rwenzori.

All the four are now under police investigation, for mismanagement of a case where a private company owned by a businessman Simpson Birungi of Birus Properties illegally evicted traders working in a government owned structure in Jinja Town under the watch of the police officers.

The IGP was on Tuesday July 25th advised by the Land Commission of Inquiry led by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire to probe and hold the officer culpable for their aiding unlawful action within two weeks.

He however, insisted on starting the probe right away, appointing his deputy Okoth Ochola to oversee the police special committee which is also to investigate the officers over the matter he appointed to look into the matter.

While appearing before the land probe committee on July 25th , the officers claimed to have obtained instructions to issue the eviction notice to the tenants, from the deceased former Director of Police Operations AIGP Felix Kaweesi but the committee said the officers were using the late’s name as a scapegoat and the IGP suggested that the four officers be formerly charged by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions
