The Chairperson for Kween District Land Board, Eng. Mohammed Latama Kitiyo has pinned the Kween County Member of Parliament Lawrence Mwangushio Cherop for fraudulently acquiring land in the area.

The land in question is on Block 2, plots 139 and 79 measuring more than 7,500 Acres in Ngenge and Kiriki Sub Counties.

Appearing before Justice Catherine Bamugemereire’s Land Commission of Inquiry, Eng. Latama said that the land was grabbed under the pretext of registering it for Cooperative Organisations of Kasoyi and Nalyangwet.

Lataama explains that the MP with his business partners Kemboyi Noya and Saul Diisi fronted members of the public as share holders into the said Cooperative Organizations who assisted them to fraudulently acquire the properties.

He further pinned a senior Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) officer Maj. Leonard Chemonges for fraudulently acquiring more than 5000 Acres of land.

Latama continued accuse the Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development Betty Amongi of declining to reply his letters that were putting queries to what was happening.
