The Land Commission of Inquiry has surprised many of those who wanted to attend the commission’s ongoing land probe today in Tororo on finding strict security checks.

Last evening the chairperson of the commission Justice Catherine Bamugemereire issued strict security guidelines to safe guard the commissioners and the witnesses from any possible harm.

Those attending the commission currently taking place at Mountains of the Moon hotel in Fort Portal town, no one is allowed to carry a mobile phone inside the hall and any security officers or escorts are supposed to leave their firearms at the gate.”

Justice Bamugemereire said that since Monday when public hearing resumed in Rwenzori sub region, “there are suspicious people with hidden motives who have been attending the hearings since and could be a threat to the commissioners.”

She also warned against intimidation of witnesses although she never mentioned any names. Today officials from Tooro Kingdom are appearing before the commission.
