A City lawyer, Male Hassan Mabirizi Kiwanuka, has petitioned Parliament seeking to block the appointment of three judges; Stephen Musota, Christopher Madrama and Alex Macky.

President Museveni last week appointed Justice Musota and Madrama to the Court of Appeal while Macky is shortlisted for High Court.

However, in a petition dated February 12, Mabirizi says the appointment was unlawful, citing lack of minimum standards by the appointees; incompetence, compromise, misbehavior and misconduct.

He accuses Justice Madrama of discrimination against “self-representing” as well as collusion with opponents in cases before his hand.

For Justice Stephen Musota, he is accused of using scare tactics towards parties demanding for their rights while Justice Macky has been described as incomplete and he has on several occasions engaged in acts of misbehavior

Parliament is yet to comment on this development but the appointments committee is scheduled to sit this Wednesday and Thursday to consider the President’s appointments.
