Over 1,000 tenants in Luweero district are protesting against a planned construction of an industrial hub by a team of Investors from Sudan under the Ali Abach Industrial Group.

The team expressed interest in 100 acres of public land located at Gogonya, Nakatonya and Sede-Tula village in Nyimbwa Sub County and Bombo town council in Luweero district to establish fruit processing plant, motorcycle assembling plant and manufacture spaghetti among other products.

The State Minister for Lands Persis Namuganza explains that the Investors who were recommended by President Yoweri Museveni toured several sites in the district.

She further identified the land in Nyimbwa sub-county and Bombo town as suitable for developments but tenants have rejected it in fear of displacement.

Others claim to have been beaten by the Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO) who was deployed by Luweero Resident District Commissioner Alice Muwanguzi to collect information about their property and Bukalasa Land office has failed to issue them with land titles to aid their compensation.
