The 2016 former presidential candidate Elton Joseph Mabiriizi, together with other pressure groups are collecting signatures from Ugandans to challenge parliament in the constitutionals court against the amendments of article 102(b).

This comes after Igara West MP Hon. Raphael Magyezi’s motion to amend article 102(b) among a few other sections was forwarded to the parliamentary legal committee after the first reading before the speaker Rebecca Kadaga.

In a press conference at Pope Paul Memorial Hotel Ndeeba, Mabirizi said that their move is to save the country from the likely problems that might come along with the constitutionals amendments aimed at fulfilling individual interests.

He retaliates that so far, they have collected 100 signatures from each sub county of the 95 districts reached so far.

Mabiriizi further says that he is mobilizing for a peaceful demonstration from Wankulukuku stadium to the Constitutional Square come Monday October 9th 2017 in protest to the amendments.
