University students under their body, Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) have challenged Makerere University Council’s decision of scrapping off evening classes.

Last week, Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe announced the abolition of evening lectures for students enrolled on the evening programme with effect from the 2018/2019 academic year which starts in August citing lack of funds.

Addressing the media at Makerere, UNSA President Jotham Burobuto calls for a real visibility study on this resolution for a final decision to be reached upon.

Meanwhile, Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUSAS) Chairperson, Dr. Deus Muhwezi Kamunyu puts the council onto an account to provide details of how it came up with this pronouncement yet those together with lecturers, support staff and student leaders agreed differently.
