Makerere University is considering scrapping off some courses and most of the evening ones shifted to day to scale down on the teaching staff to ensure efficiency.

This comes after a resolution by some lecturers not to teach any evening classes starting next financial year 2018/2019 due to failure to settle their arrears.

The lecturers have also given an ultimatum of up to tomorrow February 14th to have their gratuity paid short of that, they are ready to withdraw their labor.

However the University Vice Chancellor Prof Banarbus Nawangwe, confirmed having had a meeting with the lecturers and agreed to increase their gratuity unconditionally thus cautioning them against their threats.

Prof Nawangwe added that in the restructuring of the university operations the management agreed to scrap off some evening courses especially those with minimal revenue to the institution not later than next month.
