The Ministry of Health has confirmed an outbreak of measles in Kampala and Wakiso district with already 67 cases so far been identified, seven confirmed by the laboratory tests to be positive.

The Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng revealed this depending on their surveillance and case findings report emphasizes that a number of control measures have been taken including investigating the extent of spread within Kampala and Wakiso and also undertaking immunization programmes of children.

Measles is an airborne disease that affects mainly children aged between six months and 10 years although it can also affect adults. Some early symptoms of measles include high fever, whooping cough and red swindling eyelids, muscle and body aches, irritability, running nose, water eyes and rashes.
