Intern doctors under their umbrella body the Federation for Uganda Medical interns have laid down their tools until government fulfills their pledges.

Speaking to the press at Mulago in Kampala, the President of the Federation Dr. Joel Mirembe says intern doctors want government to improve on their working conditions among which include provision of medicine in the regional referral hospitals, and pay of their salaries because they haven’t received any coin since October this year.

He adds that engagements with the concerned ministry have not yield results forcing them to take an industrial action.

In February this year, lead by their former President Dr. Robert Lubega, the medical interns at Mulago hospital laid down their working tools due to unpaid allowances worth 989,760,000 shs which affected patients.
