Parliament came to a standstill when it resumed this afternoon following claims that a gun had been sneaked in the parliamentary chambers which is contrary to the parliamentary rules.

Members of Parliament on the opposition asked the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to be checked again to allay fairs over the state of their security on claim that the State Minister for Water Resources Ronald Kibuule had smuggled a fire arm into the chamber but he was not found with any weapon.

It all started from the Kira Municipality MP of the FDC party Ibrahim Semujju Nganda, who claimed that Minister Kibuule had showed him the gun and threatened to kill him.

But Nganda says when the matter became serious Kibuule crossed from his original sit and his gun was taken out unnoticed to the eyes of the speaker. The Opposition wants to use all possible ways to block the NRM from proposing a move before parliament for the amendment of article 102b of the presidential age limit.

The Minister for Energy Irene Muloni was asked to proceed as per the order paper, to read an update on the Oil and Gas Sector.
