The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs, Dr. Kirunda Kivejinja has laughed at politicians vying for taking over the country’s leadership, saying it will not come on a silver platter.

Speaking to journalists about the achievements of his ministry in delivering the 2016-2021 National Resistance Movement (NRM) manifesto Kivejinja who seemed like addressing people power group led by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi said “you can’t just come from the ghetto to be the president”.

He said that when NRM captured power after an armed struggle, they had a formula of how they would rule Uganda but a political quarrel developed within the party in 2001 which forced them introduce a mult-party political system.

On his ministry’s achievements, Kivejinja said government has improved border crossings making them one-stop points where traders clear their goods and are not stopped again until they reach their destinations, saves time.
