The Gulu district Woman representative Betty Aol Acan has today assumed office of the Leader of Opposition in Parliament from her predecessor Winfred Kiiza.

Speaking at the handover, the outgoing LOP Hon Winfred Kiiza described her reign as a tuff and challenged over matters of rampant insecurity in the bwa country that involved murders and kid naps, the attack on Omusinga of Rwenzururu and the recent constitutional amendment that saw the presidential age limit lifted from the constitution.

However, Kiiza notes the good working relationship with fellow mps and all political parties in parliament as a key point that has seen her shine in her service.

Kiiza further attacked her party leadership in FDC that has continued to accuse MPs for not remitting their monthly contribution which she describes as unfortunate since she has always kept records of fellow mps fulfilling their obligation.

She still refutes claims that the changes in leadership of opposition in parliament were based on failure for party members to return the 29m shillings offered to each of them in line of consulting the public on age limit.

Kiiza says the changes where normal and where expected as it’s the norm in the party to change leadership.

Meanwhile, the incoming LOP Betty Aol Acan reiterated her call for unity and peace building amongst all opposition parties if they are to achieve a common goal.
