The Aruu County Member of Parliament Odonga Otto has written to the clerk of Parliament expressing his intention to move a censure motion against the Lands, Housing and Urban Development Minister, Betty Amongi.

In his May 23rd, 2018 notice, Odonga Otto says he intends to move a censure motion against Amongi for alleged mismanagement, abuse of office, willful violation of oath of allegiance and oath of minister in relation to the fraudulent disposal of properties under the Departed Asian Properties Custodian Board.

Both the offices of the clerk to Parliament and Speaker have acknowledged receipt of the notice.

Amongi is being investigated by the Justice Catherine Bamugemareire for fraudulently acquiring four prime properties from the Departed Asian Properties Custodian Board using her private firm, Amobet Limited.

She is also accused of forging land titles and using her office to grab land.

Early this month, Odonga asked parliament to invoke rule 84 and pronounce itself on the minister’s conduct, saying she is using her powers to grab people’s land.

However, the Mitooma Woman MP, Jovah Kamateeka objected to the proposal, saying the matter is already under investigations and can’t be brought back in the house.

The speaker of parliament, Rebecca Kadaga said she will study the documents table by Odonga against Amongi
