The Parliamentary Forum on Youth Affairs wants immediate payment to a total of 117 youths who worked for the Internal Affairs Ministry for the National Identity card registration process.

The youth’s representative for Western Region Mwine Mpaka notes that these young men and women were recruited in 2014 from different districts to carry out registration exercise but were later irregularly dismissed without pay.

Mpaka says efforts to have the matter settled with the National Information Registration Authority (NIRA) have failed which forced the youths to petition the speaker last week and their matter is to be raised on the floor of parliament this week.

Meanwhile, the Buhweju County MP Francis Mwijukye says it was unjust to terminate the contracts of the youths without notice as required by law.
