The Vicar General of Kampala Msgr. Charles Kasibante has challenged the country against cultural practices that contradict with Christianity together with the rights and freedom of humanity.

At the celebrations of the first ever Kampala Vicariate day at St. Charles Lwanga Ggaba Parish on Sunday, Msgr. Kasibante said acts of witchcraft, human sacrifice, hatred and tribalism are never part of cultural norms and values but some elements take advantage of others to make such practices part of it to abuse life.

He says globalization has also come along with number of challenges especially that threaten life like abortions, use of contraceptives and test tube babies which are practiced by Ugandans well knowing that they contradict with the Christian teaching.

John Nsubuga, the Kampala Vicariate Head of Laity noted with concern the increased individualism yet Christians emphasizes unity, love and sharing especially with the most vulnerable. He says although Kampala is urban Christianity requires collective responsibility.

The Kampala Archdiocese Head of Laity Aloysius Ivan Kalanzi also challenged Christians against abusing the Catholic vows and sacraments due to selfish interests. He identified challenges such as Christian who have started to demand for divorces, demanding to marry more than one wife and domestic violence among others.

Kampala Vicariate headed by Msgr. Gerald Kalumba is made up of five deaneries include Rubaga, Nsambya, Nakulabye, Nagulu and Christ the King.

Kampala Archdiocese was divided into four vicariates; Mitalamaria, Kampala, Wakiso and Entebbe which are under the leadership of Most Rev. Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.
