Mt. St. Mary’s College Namagunga one of the historical Catholic Girl Secondary School has today celebrated its platinum jubilee (75) with gratitude to God and each ones contribution towards the success of the school.

 

The Pope Nuncio Archbishop Michael August Blume the main celebrant said a school started by religious sisters to promote formal education for girls of the middle income community has developed into a grate school forming grate professional women who command and have a big contribution to the country.

Archbishop Blume said like in the scripture of the talent each individual’s ability to contribute to the world is his talent that must be explored to the peak, challenging the school and students to use their motto through Knowledge to virtue or strength to achieve greater heights.

He called on the congregation to pay gratitude to mother Kevin and entire community of the little sisters of st. Francis of Assis who started and are running the school and called on all to be missionaries of the gospel in response to Pope Francis’ call.

The head teacher Sr. Seraphine Amulen hailed the Catholic Church, government and parents for the support to the school, a center that started with 12 students in 1942 now boasts of 1050 students and modern facilities that support education.

The celebration was attended by Bishops Christopher Kakooza of Lugazi and his Emeritus Matthias Ssekamanya, priests, religious and dignitaries from the various fields.
