The new Mulago Specialized Women and Neaonatal hospital has commenced its services by facing a deficit of about 30billion shillings from the required 44.4billion shillings to operate efficiently.

Addressing journalists at Media Center in Kampala, the Minister for Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng says that they only rose about 15billion shillings of which 7bnshs appropriated by Parliament and 8bnshs from a supplementary from Finance Ministry.

This comes after cabinet approved the charges for patients that would be referred for special treatment that indicated Ugandans seeking medical attention will part with Shs50, 000 per visit in consultation fee and Shs13m for specialized treatment.

She further says Ugandans will be required to carry with them national identity cards when seeking for services in this hospital that has already commenced with offering free services from September 17th to October 9 as an Independence gift to Ugandans.

Women seeking in-vitro fertilization will pay Shs13m when the facility roles out its programme next month.
