President Yoweri Museveni will not attend the final day of the 68th graduation ceremony for Makerere University tomorrow as had earlier expected.

This has been confirmed by the Makerere University Public Relations Officer Ritah Namisango in a brief statement issued this evening.

She says that the President is now expected to send a representative who is to grace the function on his behalf.

The graduation ceremony is now expected to start with the Award of Honorary Doctorate to Mrs. Winnie Madikizela Mandela, the wife to the former South African President Nelson Mandela at 9:00am.

A total of 3672 students from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) and School of Law will graduate tomorrow.

Earlier, MAK Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabus Nawangwe applauded Makerere University Business School (MUBS) for establishing a program that has provided an opportunity for Luzira government prison inmates to get enrolled in professional fields.

The initiative has seen 90 inmates get enrolled at MUBS with all the facilities provided to enable them have a conducive learning environment.

Prof. Nawangwe revealed this while delivering his speech on the third of the four day 68th Makerere University graduation ceremony where over 3,600 students from MUBS including 8 institution staff have been conferred with PHDs.

Meanwhile, the MUBS Principle Prof. Wasswa Balunywa challenged graduates to exhibit managerial and entrepreneurship skills to change the job market in this country.
