President Yoweri Museveni has warned that he will revise signing on execution orders for those suspects that would be convicted on death row in order to control murder criminalities that are on increase.

Museveni says that he has been excusing many prisoners on death row due to his Christianity faith but insist on resuming the strategy to avoid those who think that they have a right to kill fellow Ugandans.

He said this while passing out a total of 706 prison warders and 213 non commissioned officers at the Uganda Prisons Service headquarters today.

Museveni adds that man criminalities have increased because criminals and believe they would only serve their sentences and get released which threatens the public.

Currently, Uganda has 160 death row inmates of those six are women yet about 30 offences attract the death which is the highest number in East Africa.

The last executions happened in 1999 and 2005 for the civilian and military systems, respectively.

Public support for the death penalty in Uganda has tremendously reduced, with 64 per cent reportedly backing abolition.
