The Nakaseke Woman Member of Parliament Sarah Najjuma, is in trouble over the rice disbursed to the district by the office of the Prime Minister (OPM).

Nakaseke Chief Administrative Officer, Edith Mutabaazi has filed police charges against the legislator for the irregular distribution of the 500 bags of rice cleared by the OPM’s Office to orphans, people living with HIV/AIDS, elders, the disabled and the poor in Nakaseke District.

The CAO accuses the legislator for breaking into the district stores on June 24th, where she reportedly picked 240 bags of rice and distributed them to her supporters and Muslims for Eid El Fitri celebrations in disregard of the guidelines from the OPM which the district wants to be investigated.

The Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson, Paul Kangave says they have already summoned the legislator to explain how she accessed the rice from the district stores.

However, Najjuma denies the allegations saying the exercise was witnessed by Police and the Stores Manager with the full knowledge of the CAO but said she lobbied for the rice donation challenging his political opponents to practice mature politics.
