The National Forestry Authority (NFA) Executive Director Michael Mugisa has been arrested by police on orders of Justice Catherine Bamugemereire for hiding information of ascending the fraudulent acquisition of land titles in Kajjansi Central Forest Reserve.

Mugisa is accused of allowing the titling of land in the forest reserve illegally by City businessman Ephraim Ntaganda and his brother Sedrick Nsongoza who later sold them to one Eria Mubiru at a tune of over 2.5million USD.

Appearing before the Justice Catherine Bamugemereire’s Land Commission of Inquiry, Mugisa was looked reservist on issues about Ntaganda’s acquisition of land titles and eviction of 46 people had legal occupancy of planting trees in that reserve.

This prompted Justice Bamugemereire to hand over Mugisa to police for further investigations.

Before the arrest, Mugisa told the commission that he has managed to recover 50-60 land titles over 70,000 hectares that had been grabbed by encroachers on government forest reserves across the country.

When asked on whether he is will to apply again for the position of the executive director NFA yet the law stipulates for two terms of which are ending on 31st this month, he hesitated to answer.
