A mini-national resistance movement parliamentary caucus convened at Parliament has agreed to move a private next Thursday to support the constitutional article 102b to open the presidential age limit.

Out of 246 total NRM MPs in the 12th Parliament, 126 of them attended the meeting and were reportedly called by the State Minister for Investment, Evelyn Anite and Igara County West MP Raphael Magyezi.

The motion to discuss the matter was moved by the Kyaka County MP, Jakson Rwakafuuzi, a lawyer by profession, and seconded by all the attendants.

It’s reported that initially the agenda was to address issues related to the 2017 Land amendment bill  but was changed according to Manjiya County MP John Baptist Nambeshe and Kumi Woman MP, Monica Amoding who stormed out of the meeting saying the age limit was not a point of importance at a time when the party manifesto is still limping.

At the end result of the caucus meeting, it was resolved that Raphael Magyezi prepares to move a motion on the floor of parliament next Thursday supporting the opening of the age limit of any contestant for the Presidential, Vice President and the district chairpersons to start at 18 years of age to infinity.

Cabinet members who were present are; Minister for Defense and Veterans Affairs Adolf Mwesigye ,General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister Mary Karolo Okurut, Ronald Kibule of Water, Galabuzi Soozi of Luweero Triangle and Evelyn Anite.
