The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has given a notice of termination for the contracts of over 400 staffs at the party Secretariat headquarters and the districts.

Addressing the media this afternoon, the NRM Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba says that the contracts will be fully terminated in the next two months as part of the restructuring process in the party governance and running of government programs.

However there are rumours that, the party is experiencing a financial crisis.

Lumumba says that of the 419 sacked staff, 157 are from the secretariat, 132 administrative secretaries and 130 administrative assistants from the districts.

She further explains that there will be new recruitment for the new office of the Human Resource yet to be established and those who have survived termination include the Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, National Treasurer and the Deputy, two directors of Legal and Finance, Chairman Electoral Commission and his vice as well as the Commissioner EC.

Lumumba clarified that all salary arrears accrued for seven months for all the staff were cleared upto December last year and are yet to receive their payments for January and February this year.

Meanwhile, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission Chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi accused Lumumba for paying over 170 ghost workers at the secretariat and instead refuses to pay only 27 genuine staffs at the NRM EC plot 13 headquarters.

He further says that Lumumba should first list out the 170 workers she claims have been working at the secretariat and explains why she has failed to pay the commission staff for the last eight months.

However, Odoi labels Lumumba a good dancer who can easily mobilize for NRM votes but a poor administrator to lead people of his caliber.
