30 students of St. Eliza School of Nursing and Midwifery in Wakisi division in Buikwe district have survived accident with serious injuries following their involvement in accident at the Nile bridge junction.

The students were rushing to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for ward rounds this morning aboard the school shuttle registration number UAV 288 V which according to eye witnesses the driver lost control as he joined Jinja road from Kayunga and on realizing that a trailer heading towards jinja was almost going to collide with them he panicked and in the process slid in uncompleted drainage injuring several students. ”

The injured students were rushed to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for treatment. Proscovia Ssanyu, a survivor of the accident, saying the shuttle was speeding at the time of the accident. However Chris Rali, the driver of the shuttle blames the accident on the trailer driver.

the Officer in charge of traffic at Njeru Police Station, Justus Habyara,  said they are still investigating the cause of the accident.
