Parliaments has held a rear special session on a Sunday in honour and pay tribute to the fallen fellow Ibrahim Abiriga the former Aura Musicality MP who was killed in cold blood on Friday at Kawanda by yet unknown assailants.

Chaired by the speaker Rebecca Kadaga MPs hailed Abiriga for his honesty, humility and love for this country ever calling for unity and never to allow Uganda to degenerate to the 1960s, 70s and early 80s turmoil that forced many into exil.

As one of the person who suffered in exile according to the state minister for disaster preparedness Musa Ecweru, Abiriga never gained any supreme position in NRM yet he contributed a lot but above all never amassed unexplainable wealth many NRM members have.

Others MPs like State minister for Housing Dr. Chris Baryomunsi also acknowledged the late Abiriga for his commitment to the NRM Party.

President Museveni who visited his home and scene of crime described the incident as a political assassination.

Abiriga 62, leaves a legacy that beguiles the profile of his academic and career achievements. Growing up from humble beginnings, Abiriga sat for his Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) at Rhino Camp Primary School in 1966. Later in 1973, he obtained a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) from Kampala Grammar Secondary School.

He served as an army officer under Idi Amin’s regime between 1971 and 1976.
