A section of persons under the special interest groups, the Albinos want government to exempt taxes on sunscreen cream they use to protect their skin and body for health problems.

According to the Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) Sylvia Muwebwa Ntambi, the sunscreen cream costs between 30,000/= and 40,000/= which might not be affordable to many people under this category.

Muwebwa was addressing the press at the Uganda media center about the International Albinism Awareness Day that is celebrated on every June13th and the national celebrations will be held in Mbale under the theme; shining our light to the world.

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebbeca Kadaga is expected to be the guest of honor on that cerebration in Mbale.

The Executive Director of the Albinism Umbrella Olive Namutebi attacked parents who neglect their children under such a state and those holding the myth that one gets cured of HIV/AIDS once he or she indulges in sex with an albino.

It’s estimated that Uganda has got about 8,725 albinos.
