The African Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture Victims (ACTV) has revealed a total of 234 female Ugandans were reportedly tortured between January and September this year.

Unveiling the statistical data before the press at the Center offices in Kamwokya, the ACTV Monitoring and Evaluation Manager Sulaiman Mpagi says the over role number of  the tortured Ugandans stood at 300 with men standing at 82 compared to ladies.

The report further shows that ,Uganda is leading the list of torture survivors in Eastern regions with 209 cases followed by DR Congo with 97 cases, Somalia, Angola, Rwanda and Burundi with fewer cases.

Mpagi explains that youths between the age of 19- 36 years are more vulnerable to torture with the Police force top on the list of the perpetuators of torture followed by the Uganda People’s Defense Forces, Game Rangers, Crime Preventers and DRC government.

He added that physical torture is the most of torture that is mostly used to victimize Ugandans.
