Government through the Ministry of Health together with World Food Programme has taken samples of super cereal food to South Africa and Kenya for more investigations.

In a joint press briefing at the Uganda Media Center in Kampala, the Minister for Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng said that they expect results from the samples taken to the Central government laboratory in Butabika to be out before the end of Tuesday.

Three people were confirmed dead and 262 people discharged from health centers in both Napak and Amudat district due to mental confusion, headache, vomiting and some other illnesses after consuming the suspected poisoned super cereal.

Dr. Aceng says that there are separate investigations by police, Ministry of Health, Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) and World Food Programme that are carried and later will be complied and analyzed for a joint final declaration.

However, the World Food Programme Country Director, El Khidir Daloum confirms that they have managed to retrieve and stored almost the whole super cereals totaling to over 3500 metric tons of food.
