A special team of officers from Police headquarters has been dispatched to join their Chief Gen. Kale Kayihura at Bukomansimbi and Lwengo districts to hunt for the suspected panga- wielding men reported to have killed five people and injured over 30 others on the new years eve.

Kayihura is said to have went at Bukomansimbi and Lwengo yesterday after five people including a retired police officer SSP Denis Ssebuggwawo Lumala and a primary three going school boy were attacked and hacked by yet unknown thugs.

It is reported that the attackers descended on the residents in the areas of Kisojo, Kyamabaale, Katoogo, Kisaaka in Bukomansimbi with machetes and sticks and hacked to death among others a retired police officer SSP Denis Ssebuggwawo Lumala and a primary three pupil.

Addressing the media at the Central Police Station in Kampala, the force’s Spokesperson Emilian Kayima says one of the bodies of the deceased is yet to be identified but suspected to be for one of the suspects.

Meanwhile, Kayima clarifies that Sheikh Issa Wampongo, a duat teacher at Yusra Primary School in Nakaloke Mbale district who was announced dead due to murder this morning allegedly to have been kidnapped last evening, just drowned in a stream at Kachumbala in Bukedea district
