Police have commenced investigations into circumstances under which 5 guns were recently stolen from homes of security personnel.

 

Addressing the media at police headquarters in Naguru, the Police Spokesman Asan Kasingye says the incidents happened in different parts of the country include Apac, Bulambuli, Abim and Sheem districts.

This comes at a time cases of theft of guns are reportedly on the rise in the country with the most prominent one happening at the start of this month in Kapchorwa.

According to Kasingye, on July 13th 30 rounds of ammunition went missing and other items while police officers at Alwello Detach in Abim district were attending their gardens.

Kasingye says they have already detained the officer in charge of the detach Sgt. Angelos Ojok, who had been left to watch it yet a gun stolen from a prison warder in Amita prison centre in Abim was later recovered.
