Police have finally released the 12 children who were allegedly kidnapped at the home of Abdul Rashid Mbaziira, one of the suspects in the murder of former Police Spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kaweesi in March this year.

Kaweesi was killed alongside his bodyguard Kenneth Erau and driver Godfrey Mambewa in Kulambiro, a suburb of Kampala on March 17th.

The children were picked up by the Police Flying Squad operatives when they picked up Mbaziira from his home in Namasengere village, Nabaale Sub County, Mukono District two days after the shooting.

Mbaziira is being investigated for his alleged involvement in the assassination of Kaweesi and child trafficking to Democratic Republic of Congo.

The children have spent more than one and half month at Kyampisi Child Care center.

Three other children have remained at Kyampisi Child Care center waiting to be picked by their mothers.

The head of the Anti-Human Trafficking department in the Internal Affairs Ministry Moses Binoga says police will continue to monitor the social security of the children.

This week, a group of 6 Catholic and Muslim lawyers gave police an ultimatum of seven days to apologize for the alleged kidnap of the children and also handover back them to their parents or else individual officers risk to be sued.
