Barely Three weeks left for the June 3rd Martyrs day celebrations at Namugongo a number of institutions and companies have started to fulfill their pledges in support of the celebrations.

Radio Sapientia is taking the lead in the provision of the Public Address System while soft drink companies Coca Cola and Pepsi have also contributed both cash and in kind towards the celebrations at the Catholic Martyrs Shrine Namugongo as reported by the Secretary General Uganda Episcopal Conference Msgr. John Baptist Kauta.

Institutions like Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi, Uganda Catholic Management and Training Institute Lubaga, Makerere and Kyambogo universities are to provide Ushers.

On the funds so far UGX 540 million out of UGX 720 million has been collected according to the Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee from Tororo Archdiocese Max Ochai.

Ochai however says more pledges are not yet collected, souvenir items are also on sale and a fundraising dinner that is to be held on 17th this month at Hotel Africana are among other avenues lined up to solicit for the remaining funds.

This was during the preparation meeting at Uganda Episcopal Conference (UCC) gardens Nsambya . The celebrations are under the theme; Let’s walk in the light of God as a family.
