People living with disabilities have urged government to do more to ensure that those amongst them with required qualification are employed both in the public and private sector.

The national Woman Member of Parliament representing People with Disabilities (PWDs), Safia Nalule says more should be done by government especially on ensuring that there is a leveled ground for both the able bodied and the disabled when it comes to availability of job opportunities.

She said this during a launch of a campaign dubbed “Make 12.4% Work,” implying to the percentage of disabled Ugandans according to the last national census who have sidelined in the job market.

This campaign is spearheaded by Light for the World organization which has partnered with the National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) and Reach a Hand a youth led non-profit organization focused on youth empowerment programs.
