The Catholic Church is committed to inculcating catholic norms and values that they are a foundation to civilized society Uganda needs.

This is through competitions in poetry, Art, music dance and drama by the Holy Cross Congregation through its Holy Cross Family Ministries department East Africa that emphasizes prayer to build happy families the foundation of the Church.

In the try prayer competitions for the year 2019 at the local level the overall winner at school level has been Our Lady of Africa and at individual level Mukisa Dickson from Our lady of Africa won in Poetry, Teendtea Derrick from St. Joseph’s SSS Naggalama and Aliga Robin from Bishop Cyprian Kihangire Kyabakadde won in Art and Prose respectively under the theme “Mary Mother of the Church”.

However one Catherine Nanteeza from St. Joseph’s of Nazareth Katende won at International level with the best Essay under the theme; “Mary the New Eve” for 2018 and won herself USD 250.

According to the National Director Holy Cross Family Ministries East Africa Rev. Fr. Lenard Olobo,  they want the young generation to find meaning in the global world with respect to God because a society without God is doomed.

Try prayer contest for the his year 2019 started with mass at Holy Cross Family ministries in Uganda at Nsambya Parish led by the Chaplain of the Nkumba University Fr. Harman Zziwa who emphasized quality education because poor education produces academic dwarfs and devils who misinterpret social norms and values accepted for humanity.

Fr. Zziwa said Government must to strive for education that builds knowledge and to avoid half baked Christians in the church becaue they misinterpret the catholic norms and societal values causing havoc in the community.

He emphasized to the pastors to reach out to the flock and speak their language if they are to evangelise meaningfully.
