The Inter Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) has urged legislators to extend the matter of lifting amending article 102(b) dealing with the presidential age limit to their respective areas.

While addressing the media at IRCU headquarters Mengo, Council Chairperson also Mufti of Uganda His Eminence Sheik Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje reveals that as religious leaders, they are dismayed by the action of some NRM members of parliament who, convened and passed a resolution to amend article 102b of the constitution.

Mubajje says that the debate should be extending to the general public through a referendum process instead of the minority deciding for the majority for such instrumental and constructive matter.

He further lashes at security agencies over harassing the opposition hence challenging President Yoweri Museveni to come out and clear the matter.

Meanwhile the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga and his counterpart of the Church of Uganda Rt. Rev. Grace Stanley Ntagali say that due to descending views from the public over this matter, the lawmakers should first seek advice from voters than deciding on their own.
