The Minister of Information Frank Tumwebaze has confirmed that cabinet approved the 2018/2019 financial year budget without precise figures of salary increment for public servants.

Tumwebaze says even though parliament is scrutinizing the ministerial budgets, the Ministry of Finance is finalizing budget cash limits to incorporate salary increments for public servants since it can amend the budget depending on revenue and expenditure projections.

This is in line with the cabinet directive of November last year to the Ministry of Public Service and that of finance to study salary increments for primary School teachers and Secondary science teachers, soldiers from the rank of private to sergeant, police staff from the rank of constable to sergeant, prison staff from rank of warder to sergeant, security officers at junior ranks, judiciary officers, health workers and all scientists in government ministries and public universities.

Tumwebaze says cabinet also approved the amendment of the electronic Transactions Act, 2011 and Bills of exchange Act Cap 68 to improve efficiency and effectiveness in financial service delivery calling upon Ugandans to embrace digital economy to safeguard their business.

Tumwebaze adds that cabinet also directed the constituted committee to review proposals in regards to wealth creation and employment opportunities for the youth to produce a report on the progress over the president’s commitments and funds to different youth groups.
