Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine has been sworn in as a full Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East Constituency.

Shortly after taking the oath on Tuesday afternoon, the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga congratulated him upon joining the 10th Parliament.

Various MPs from different political camps like NRM, DP, UPC and independent MPs pushed and shoved to get near Kyagulanyi as he took oath. For obvious reasons, the MPs wanted a photo opportunity with the reggae singer, turned politician.

The excitement persisted as MP Kyagulanyi was led to Speaker Kadaga to sign in a members’ book and to receive instrument of office.

Kadaga handed him the Constitution of the Uganda and the Rules of Procedure of Parliament. After that, MPs struggled to shake his hand as he was taken to the section in the chambers where independent MPs sit.

Kyagulanyi a popular Ugandan musician defeated established candidates from both President Yowqeri Museveni’s National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the main opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) parties in the recent by-election.

The by-election in the teeming Capital Kampala was called due to voting irregularities during last year’s general election.
