Police has arrested six people in connection to the theft of guard rails on Mukono-Katosi road that is still under construction in Buikwe district.

The Buikwe District Police Commander, Alex Wabwire identifies the suspects as Steven Ssekibuule, Deo Nyombi, Zebidayo Kihaya and George Balika, all residents of Nkokonjeru in Mukono district.

The other suspects are Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ritta Busingye, the officer in charge of Ngogwe Police station and Sergeant, Robert Chedikol.

The suspects are wanted in connection to the theft of 42 pieces of guard rails measuring over 150 meters from Bugga village in Ngogwe Sub County in Buikwe district.

It’s said residents alerted Police about the theft of the guard rails a few days ago but nothing was done to stop the vandals.

Residents claim that one of them saw the vandals in action and informed Ritta Busingye, the Officer in Charge of Ngogwe Police station but instead of taking action, she alerted them to leave.

James Mbalulwe, Ngogwe Sub County LC III chairman says it is unfortunate that even before the road is complete some people have started to vandalise it.

The Buikwe District Police Commander, Alex Wabwire, says investigations into the theft are ongoing.
