The Masaka Grade One Magistrate Christopher Adyeeri has remanded six people in connection to the fire that gutted St Bernard’s Mannya Secondary School in Rakai district.

The suspects are; Henry Talemwa 12 years, Alex Mugarura 18 years, Edson Nivo 22 years, Dickson Kisuule 18 years all S.4 students. Others are Michael Tayebwa, the school warden and corporal Stephen Nziyimaana, a police officer attached to Mmanya Police post.

Adyeeri read to the suspects 11 counts of murder and attempted murder, 33 counts of arson and malicious damage to property.

Last month, 10 students died after fire burnt a dormitory that was housing at least 50 senior three students.

Meanwhile, Livingstone Lutamaguzi, the Greater Masaka Regional Internal Security Officer says that security personnel are also looking for Joseph Sserunjogi, the school Bursar.

Sources in security reveal that the Police had gone to arrest Sserunjogi at his home but fled before he was arrested.
