South Sudanese living in Uganda in conjunction with Justice and Peace Commission and Caritas Uganda have held Special prayers to seek God’s providence to the leaders in South Sudan to respect the latest peace agreement.

The prayers held under the theme; “Blessed are Peace makers for they shall be called children of God” at Nsambya Youth Sharing Center, leaders from South Sudan have insisted on having the two leaders President Salva Kiir and Dr. Riek Macher respecting the agreements to save humanity.

This comes as the latest agreement of the 7th time that is still working out means of power sharing and ceasefire are said to be violated.

The Research and Advocacy officer at Caritas Uganda Godfrey Onentho says ideas and opinions need to come from South Sudanese themselves on how they can achieve peace

One of the leaders from South Sudan Philip Adigo describes their situation as a forgotten human suffering by the rest of the world.

He however commended Uganda for her generosity that it has hosted them without any restrictions. Uganda is a host to over a million south Sudanese with Bidi Bidi refugee settlement camp in Yumbe district hosting the highest number of those displaced in the current wave of violence.

The country has been embroiled in war since 1950s before it became independent in 2011, but the latest conflicts perpetuated by the leaders themselves following the 2013 attempted coup that left President Salva Kiir and his deputy Dr. Riek Macher separated has caused devastating destruction of property and claimed hundreds of lives while over four million people displaced.
