Patrick Kasaija alias Pato the main suspect in the murder of the former female accountant Susan Magara has finally been extradited from South Africa to face charges of murder in Kampala.

Pato was brought to Kampala by a team of detectives led by CID commandant for Kampala metropolitan SSp Benson Olal, SSP Mark Odong with the help of Interpol Uganda a board South African airways.

 

Fred Enanga the police spokesperson confirmed Pato’s extradition and said that he is being detained at Special Investigations Division in Kireka.

 

Enanga added that Pato has been granted access to his lawyer and that arrangements to interview him and also investigate his defence in the alleged murder of Susan Magara are in place.

 

The police spokesperson noted that immediately his case file is finalized , it will be forwarded to the office of the DPP for perusal and probable sanctioning.

 

Background

 

Suzan Magra 28, went missing on February 7th, only her body to be discover after four days in Kigo off the Entebbe expressway and her kidnappers had demanded for over $ 200,000 UShs 700 million as a ransom for her release.

 

Magara, a cashier with Bwendero Dairy Farm (BDF) along Kabaka Anjagala road in Rubaga was reportedly kidnapped while driving to her home in Lungujja, Lubaga Division.

The demanded ransom was delivered to Kanaaba Ndejje off Busabala road, Makindye Municipality, Wakiso District as directed by kidnappers.

However, after receiving the money, they realized they had spent a lot of time with the deceased and she could identify them. It was suggested that she be suffocated to death.

On February 26, 2018 at around 9 pm, at one Lubega’s house, the deceased was injected with Ketamine and her head was pushed inside a polythene bag suffocating her. Her body was later dumped at Kitiko Birongo Village along Entebbe Express Way using A5’s Vehicle Reg No. UBB 993J.

This is according to The DPP report details showing the alleged kidnappers who include Patrick Kasaija alias Agaba Patrick, Yusuf Lubega, Hussein Wasswa, Muzamiru Ssali, A5Hajara Nakandi and Abubaker Kyewolwa met and plotted to kidnap Susan, well knowing that she is a daughter of a rich man from whom they would get ransom that would support their activities.
