Police in Kampala has confirmed the arrest of three journalists attached to the British Broadcasting Cooperation (BBC) in Uganda and Vivian Nakaliika, the wife of NBS TV news anchor, Solomon Sserwanja  for allegedly possessing government drugs.

The journalists are Godfrey Badebe, Muhammad Kasim and Rashid Kaweesa.

Addressing the media this afternoon, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango said that the four are accused of buying 14 boxes of government drugs worth Shillings 5 million,

He says that some of the illegal drugs include Hepatitis B medicines that were confiscated from Sserwanja’s home in Mukono where they also picked his wife who is a Communications Officer in Charge of Health Promotion and Behavioral Change in Ministry of Health, now detained at CPS for further investigations.

According to sources, information shows that the three journalists were picked up from different areas in Kampala last night by operatives from the Internal Security Organization (ISO).
