Tooro Kingdom is to embark on the renovation of the Karambi royal tombs, a place where three kings of Tooro were buried, David Kasagama Kyebambe , George Kamurasi Rukidi III and Patrick Olimi Kaboyo.

Last year during the 21st coronation anniversary the Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru directed Omuhikirwa Bernard Tungwako, the Kingdom and Omusuga Charles Kayondo Kamurasi, the head of the royal clan to ensure that the tombs are renovated and completed before this year’s coronation anniversary celebrations in September.

Grass has overgrown at the burial grounds and mausoleums where Kings Kasagama and Rukidi are buried leak whenever it rains.

Omuhikirwa Bernard Tungwako says the renovation exercise might not be reaised as it was anticipated for this year’s coronations since the budget of 200 million shilling planned to be raised from mainly rent and lease of assets has not yet been realized.

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization-UNESCO has been approached for assistance.
