Tororo Archdiocese has started preparations for June 3, 2018 Martyrs day celebrations an event that is to cost UGX 720 million.

In a press conference at the Uganda Catholic Secretariat Nsambya Archbishop Emmanuel Obbo said they have started early to cater for about FOUR million pilgrims expected to attend and already pilgrims from Zambia and Malawi have confirmed their attendance in big numbers.

The Martyrs day celebrations will be under the theme; Let us Walk in the Light of God as a Family (1 John 1:5 – 10). His grace Obbo says the theme was based on the trials and challenges affecting the family, with special emphasis to the youth who have been derailed by bad peers, technology, economic problems like poverty yet the Martyrs were youths who withstood all challenges for God’s grace.

Ten organizing committees have been instituted; Finance, pastoral and liturgy, publicity and Health among others and also opened a bank account in Centenary Bank Tororo Branch under the name; Archdiocese of Tororo Martyrs Celebrations, 3100049368 and an Airtel mobile money line 0755420408.

From the first fundraising launch held on October 21, in Tororo, this Sunday November 12 they have organised another fundraising drive at St. James Bbiina Parish that will start with mass at 10am. They have called on all people from Tororo living in Kampala and nearby districts and well-wishers to attend.
