By Francis Lubega

Government is planning to come with a tougher law on any suspected terrorists with or without intension will be charged and sentenced from five to life imprisonment, in the proposed amendment to the 2016 Anti-Terrorist act

They say the law must meet the International Convention on the suppression of financing terrorism.

The convention tends to implicate even those who finance and the one who receives the finances to implement any acts of terrorism with or without an intension of harming persons or a group.

According to the Executive Director of the Financial Intelligence Authority Sydney Asubo , once the close is amended, it will prevent or criminalize even those who have been financing terrorism whether physically or in any other form which has not the case to the existing law.

The bill also further criminalizes any persons who locally or across borders engage in training, support, or plans to carry out any terrorist actions on other country.
